TVET-Program Description


The Program is designed to develop the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude of the trainees to the standard required by the occupational standard. The contents of this program are in line with the Occupational Standard (OS). Trainees who successfully completed this program need to undergo national assessment and be found competent before he/she is qualified to work in the Construction sector in the field of On-site Building Construction Management. The prime objective of this training program is to equip the trainees with the identified competences specified in the OS. Graduates are therefore expected to be able to organize work activities, prepare specification for construction work, controlling and ordering bill of materials, prepare job estimate and costing, manage construction site operations, manage subordinates and equipment, apply building codes and standards for medium rise building projects, apply site survey and procedures to building projects, use relevant technology, apply problem solving techniques in the work place, identify services layout and connection methods to medium-rise construction, manage safety and environmental protection, manage quality customers services, establish quality standards, develop teams and individuals, utilize specialized communication skills and manage and maintain small/medium business operation. 1.3 TVET-Program Learning Outcomes The expected outputs of this program are the acquisition and implementation of the following units of competence – Plan and Organize Work Activities CON BCM4 02 0910 Manage Construction Site Operations CON BCM4 03 0910 Prepare Job Estimate and Costing CON BCM4 04 0910 Apply Building Codes and Standards for Medium Rise Building Projects CON BCM4 05 0910 Apply Site Survey and Set-out Procedures to Building Projects CON BCM4 06 0910 Prepare Specifications for Construction Works CON BCM4 07 0910 Control and Order Bill of Materials CON BCM4 08 0910 Use Relevant Technology CON BCM4 09 0910 Identify Service Layouts and Connections Methods CON BCM4 10 0910 Manage Subordinates and Equipment CON BCM4 11 0910 Manage Safety and Environmental Protection CON BCM4 12 0910 Manage Customers Quality Services CON BCM4 13 0910 Apply Problem Solving Techniques in the Work Site CON BCM4 14 0910 Migrate to New Technology CON BCM4 15 0910 Manage and Maintain Small/Medium Business Operations
